Grandmaster Ladan Homayoon was born and raised in Iran. At three years old, her father began teaching her at his Zoorkhane-an Iranian fitness center. He imparted his extensive knowledge of physical fitness and the philosophy of traditional Persian style martial arts. However, when she was eleven, she was forced to attend the women’s gym because she was a girl. It was there that she started her extensive training as a Taekwondo fighter and competitor.

“I was eleven years old when my father had a stroke which forced him to retire. Even though he lost his own physical strength and athletic abilities, he always strongly encouraged me to stay active in sports and to compete in national martial arts championships. I first began to work as a teacher when I was thirteen, this was around the same time my father's health deteriorated and I became his caretaker. I desperately wanted to help him recover, so I started to develop new exercises and physical therapies to try to improve his condition.

Despite my young age, I delved into the function and movement of the human body. I wanted to know about the importance of the body's organs and their role in pain management. All of this laid my foundation for my keen interest and expertise in physical fitness, pain management and movement therapy. I was seventeen when I lost the person I loved the most in my life. My father left us forever. My hardships and experiences during these years formed not only my character, but also shaped me as an athlete and trainer. This is the foundation on which Harmony Fitness was born.”-Grandmaster Ladan Homayoon."
